Great PaulVDV 2017-06-19 11:50

Hello Malgo,
It's great that in a big city like Kunming you can escape the hustle and bustle by going to this Dragon Gate which at first sight seems to be located quite remote.
I love such hikes on paths cut in the mountain wall, sometimes walking through a tunnel and sometimes with spectacular views.
No idea how long this climb was but China has several sacred mountains where the hike to the top takes many hours or a complete day.
In 1999 I climbed Huashan near Xian. Very spectacular. This Dragon Gate also looks spectacularly located.
You talk about speed trains. They didn't exist in China when I was there. Are they expensive?
Best regards, Paul

Smile To PaulVDV: High speed trains

Hello Paul,
These high speed trains are fantastic. From Kunming to Guangzhou ordinary train takes 28h 44min. High speed train is 6h 22min. It costs 63 euro second class and 89 euro first class.
Gert wrote that he went from Changsha to Kunming 35 hours. Now it takes 6h13m, costs 65 euro, 1070 km. Impressive!
Ordinary night train from Kunming to Lijiang, Soft sleeper, comfortable, 30 euro.
Kind regrads Malgo
