Default YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC 2006 IN REVIEW

The years rushes to it's end. 2006 has been for certain one more year full of sucesses and failures, full of pro's and con't, full of good and bad buys... all photographically speaking.

I would love to ear your own experiences. What you think helped you to improve; your best buy and your photographic wish for next year.

resuming: your photographic 2006 in review

---

My 2006 was a good year in terms of photography, it is the first full year into serious photography, since i've just started this hobby in February 2005 and just bought my camera in the summer of 2005. So it has been and intense year of experimenting and discovering.

I feel that i'm getting better images now... i really learned alot... yet... there is still a long road to walk before i consider myself a "photographer".

My positive points this year:
- Won Digiwowo.com contest (1000 prize money) gave me the oportunity to buy my 10-22mm and 100mm lenses
- Bought my Konica Hexar rangefinder
- bougth the 17-40mm L Lens

My Bestbuy:
- Havent tested it consistently yet because i've just received it last week, but i will say the 17-40L is my best buy of the year.

My wish for 2007:
- Due the eager to discover all type of photography (streetshot, landscapes, portraits) and media (digital, film, medium format) i find myself lost from time to time. This disables my capacity to deliver consistent photos from a certain theme for a long time. This is what i wish for 2007... more consistency in my photos. I also want to rebuilt some projects i have in my mind.
---

Now you ...

You really want my year account?
2006 was more of an equipment load year rather than a true photographic year.

Positive points...
... hmmh, lemme think about it...
Siphooned both my wife's and my wallet into photo equipment? is that a positive point?

Started the first days of the year with a 4 full pages report on diving in Thailand for Paris Diving Fair then nothing for the rest of the year.

Was about to leave TrekEarth but did not.

Oh yes, I know! I showed Nono how to enlarge a print.

Bestbuy

Probably the most plethoric part of my photo year.

Last year, my best photographic buy was a tailored photo bag in rough fabrics, that I bought 2 euros in Burma. I have to choose this year from EOS5D, 24/105L, 430EX flash, EOS400D... I dunno... EOS5D, perhaps...

Wishes for 2007.
Travel, travel and travel.. other than that :
Be coherent and finish that 500 photos portfolio I've never started.
Find myself some photo challenges.
Stop thinking and start doing.
Hope I'll nod and think "that wasn't so hard" when I'll read these lines again on the end of the next year.

Hi Malo

At first congratulations for the winning contest!
I did not know that!

My 2006 was not good! I hope next year I can improve it. A bit,

K.

My positive points this year:
i first got into photography on any level during the late spring/summer of 2005, and i started to control my photography a lot better going into 2006--i was able to visualize what i was taking a picture of better and take photos with intention rather than just taking a whole lot of pictures and hoping that some would magically "turn out".
Also, i saw my style shift from exclusively landscape oriented to something more broad and versatile. In particular, i started to use people a lot more.
i entered the realm of the dSLR by buying a Nikon D50, and have enjoyed the versatility that it offers as opposed to my old point-and-shoot.

My Bestbuy:
Probably goes to the D50.

My wish for 2007:
Be more consistent in taking pictures wherever i am rather than depending on a change of locale to make me interested. i've started trying to take more pictures near where i live over the past two months and have been pleased with the results, but there's certainly a long way left to go. Also, i'll be spending a month in Panama this summer, and i would like to be able to have a coherent collection of work from that trip rather than scattered decent images.

Talking about equipment i got a little surprised when i saw you shooting with a 24-105L ... not because the L(abel) but because the zoom... what's happening to the Prime Luko :D

Jokking offcourse, but i still scratch my ear when i think of you zooming from across the street :D

I believe the 5D (or similar) will be my next targer, my little Rebel is about to die sooner or later, i'm already saving ;)
