Default To Furachan: NIkon NX

Francis,
What is this Nikon software you mentioned in your last note. Is is as good as Lightroom or Raw essentials? Id like to hear your views.

Cheers
Peter

Oh it is a DAMN sight btetter than anything from Adobe (RE has now been subsumed by Lightroom, belongs to Adobe) for Nikon, for NEF conversion I mean. There is no comparison, NX is the more evolved version of the cumbersome Nikon Capture software - it had incredibly sophisticated things like U-points whereby you can subtly change the hues, saturation and lighting in one corner of the frame. But the great thing is it is 100% in tune with Nikons hidden agenda, their algorhythms. Light and day. Adobe like everything else works perfectly with Canon and vice versa. Nikon is obstinate and eccentric but your NEF files hide real treasures which NX can certainlt reveal...

I see the difference with NIkon NX you've been using. But, what about the Canon users? I'm sure we can't use Nikon's NX software, so I guess to match we have Lightroom? Also, do you have to have Adobe CS3 to use Lightroom? I don't wanna go out and buy it if isn't necessary.
P.S. U- points have got to be essential for anyone.
