Photographer's Note

Large Version viewable.

The Giza Plateau is part of the necropolis of ancient Memphis. From a rocky ledge to the southeast of the pyramids, one realizes how the plateau lifts them up above the surrounding landscape.

Here we see the Pyramid of Khufu (The Great Pyramid )on the right which is the largest of the three principal pyramids on the Giza Plateau. It is 450 feet/137.2 meters in height.

The Pyramid of Khafre on the left, is 448 feet/136.5 meters in height. It still retains near the summit some of its original smooth limestone veneer.

The Sphinx which stretches 241 feet/73.5 meters in length and reaches 65 feet/20 meters in height sits in front of Khafres Pyramid.

P.S. This is the second image posted from Giza. I only intended posting one shot but may if there is enough interest post various shots from different angles etc.
