Photographer's Note

This photograph shows some of the numerous salt evaporation ponds in Tamarin. Sea water is pumped into these shallow stone bottomed pools and left to evaporate naturally in the hot sun. When most of the water has evaporated the remaining sea salt is shoveled into piles to be collected and sold. Most days I didn't see much action but one day I was lucky to see the salt being collected.
