Photographer's Note
A "dar", or traditional residence for a rich (and large) family, now being rented by 4 poor families in the medina of Sale : difficult to describe the place as it is so complex, accessible from a door at the end of an alley lost in a maze of very narrow streets, after which you follow a narrow corridor (unchanged in this case) and you arrive in this courtyard which has known better days.
(If you are interested in the architecture of this house, have a look at the whole series of 6 photos)
(This is what I prefer when I travel : being welcomed inside houses, meeting the various members of the families, sharing meals with them...
My interest goes also to those fastuous old buildings, specially if they have not been restored but still in relatively good condition, with families living inside : saw similar cases with different architectures in Iran, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and... don't remember where else - could you recommend other countries ? In sub-Saharan Africa maybe ?)

Chere Catherine,
Amicalement a toi,

bonjour catherine,
ta facilité de pénétrer le quotidien des gens est assez fascinante, une fois de plus tu nous montres un interieur/exterieur d'une belle façon animée par deux gosses insouciants, qui jouent.

A nice interior shot of this scene. Thanks for taking us in to see the lives of these Moroccons! I like the colors on the walls, and the nice lighting within the walls.

An absolute delight that takes your thought several notches ahead. Done brilliantly and with an amazing comfortable feel. I am impressed at the way you are at ease with people and their interaction with their habitations. A delightful piece Cath.

Hi Catherine,
I went through your whole series of this beautiful mansion and I loved them. The architecture and tile work is amazing, and it is nice that you were invited in to the house and interact with the local people. Great crisp clear image with good colour.

Hi Cath, the many elements in this image convey well what one finds in such places brilliantly. Had I been there I'd had thought, no too much to make a good image, but you made it work well. With attention being drawn initially to the boys then the architectual and life detail. Had a look at the other images. Particularly liked the boy in the doorway. Must go back to Morocco one day... cheers, Steve

Super cette cour toute jaune et bleue... Une très belle ambiance de tous les jours, assez gaie grâce à la présence de ces enfants qui semblent jouer.

Ciao Cath,
looking your shot I thought at a Beatles song (we all live in a yellow submarine...) pheraphs for yellow color of walls and also for life that we see in internal court.
Lovely shot.

Plenty of stuff to look at here, Cath. One surely gets to know a lot more intimately how these people live. A truly candid and interesting image.
