Photographer's Note

Took this on my trip to Central China in early August.

What is it with me?! When I TRY on purpose to take pictures of things, they turn out to be really ordinary. And then under strange circumstances (this one was taken when I was so sick, I could barely stand because I was so delirious!), I manage to take some fairly decent pictures!

Anyway, this was in Ningbo at a Museum of Ancient Library. There were displays of a lot of ancient chinese books and texts, and this was part of a mural which is a poem of an ancient king. The characters were "scratched" onto a VERY HUGE slab of marble and its travelled across all of China!

Unfortunately there isn't much left of it because the stuff they used to "mark" the text on the marble was real gold, so only small slabs of it remain. And actually, people have even scratched out the gold from these remaining small slabs!

Just cropped and resized... I didn't even bother with the contrast or colour. I think this suits the piece of marble.
