My wife and I returned to Bali for the fifth time last October. We usually use Bali as a jumping off point to head east to other islands. But this time we met her parents and spent the entire time on Bali.

One day we headed out on a snorkeling trip. One of the stops was a sea turtle hatchery. The hatchery was at a restaurant. But I liked the fact that the local people were looking toward environmental preservation as a way toward sustainability. Instead of selling the turtles for soup or their shell they were releasing then back into the wild. Since sea turtles always come back to the same place to lay their eggs, these released turtles would always come back to the turtle farm and keep the cycle going.
