Photographer's Note

You may be bored already with my photos from Russia but I prefer to show something less known. So another photo from Suzdal. I have presented already the churches and Open Air Museum, this is just the street. The main street in Suzdal is, of course, Lenin Street. The whole street is more than 8 km long, but from the main monastery to the open air museum is only 3,5 km. There are some buses but I saw mainly the cabs. The whole street looks just like this - small wooden houses with beautiful window shutters, All the street lined with trees so in the early autumn it looked really charming.

I found it rather strange and funny that they changed the names of towns to their earlier forms: Yekaterinburg (Svierdlovsk), Perm (Molotov), St. Petersburg (Leningrad), Sergiyev Posad (Zagorsk), Nizhny Novgorod (Gorky) but the area is called as it was in Communist time: e.g. Sverdlovsk Oblast. The names of the streets remain everywhere as in USSR - the main street is Lenin street, and second to importance is Marx, or Engels. In Suzdal it is Krupskoy Street. For those who not know it was the wife of Lenin. The Lenin monument (at least one) is in every town.
