Photographer's Note

Ascending the Palnbashi Saddle (3691 m above sea level), which is several kilometers from the West Summit (5642 m, it is seen in the picture) of the Caucasian highest Mount Elbrus, we got close to a firn area. The snowy slops were several dozens meters from our path.

Two types of bikes can be used for such a travel: a mountain bike (at the left, this is Mongoose with 26 inch wheels) and a hybrid one (at the right, this is SCOTT with 28 inch wheels). The first is better on a dirt road, while the latter is quicker on a paved road.
