Old castle, a photo from Hrodzyenskaya, West

Photographer's Note

This is an old castle located in the very small city of Mir - one of the greatest historic monument in Belarus. It was built approximately in 1506-1510 and now it's a most attractive touristic place in our country. It has five towers each approx. 25 meters height. All of them were built in Gothic style, which was very typical for all Belarussian architecture in XV-XVI ages but now only two towers (main and south-western) kept their Gothic features. Other towers were rebuilted during the Renaissance. The Castle was many times destroyed and burnt (in 1655, 1705, 1812...)

At a time being The Castle is on restoration and scientists are getting new data on its history and architecture.

Une composition très soignée de ce vieux chateau.
J'adore l'effet du polarisant sur le ciel.... mais dommage que l'on ne sache pas avec quel appareil la photo a été faite !
les personnages nous donnent une idée de la grandeur et rendent la composition plus vivante!
très agréable!!

Very fine photo of your Architecture there in Balarus.
Good focus, the blue sky seems to make your castle stand out well.
Must be very large castle as the people are very small.

Wonderful castle and blue sky. Is this castle situated in Grodno region, yes? I wanted to go in Grodno this year, but unfortunately could not. I hope, in following year.

Niece piece of Belarussian architecture and great vivid colours, especially the blue sky coressponds nicely with the orange roofs of the towers. Where the city Mir is located?
