Moerkerke - Damme

A new bike ride took us to Moerkerke, a rural municipality, belongs to Damme.

Because of the coronavirus, many people are at home and may or may not work.
The photo shows father and his daughter accompanied with her rollerblades.
Many people get nervous in having to stay at home in good weather
In Belgium it is not forbidden to walk and cycle on the condition that the distance is at least one and half meter.

Many people abide by these rules, only a few young people think they cannot get this virus.
But today a 12-year-old girl died in Ghent through this virus, in just three days.

My photo was taken in the Waterhoek district.
A chapel has been present on this site since the late 18th century, see the Ferraris map (1770-1778) and 19th-century staff maps. The literature is divided over the construction date of the current chapel: Van Poucke takes 1841 as the construction year, commissioned by city councillor Leopold Dalle; Vermeersch takes 1884 as the construction date, which is also stated in situ during the restoration.

I hope you like it
