Photographer's Note

A night sight of the palate of Princes Evêques in Liege.
The columns which you see in foreground represent the pillars of the old cathedral Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Lambert. This immense Gothic cathedral, with the memory of saint Lambert, occupied the current place Saint-Lambert, the heart of Liege. The cathedral Saint-Lambert measured nearly 110 meters of length and 170 meters by counting the cloisters. By including the collateral vaults, its width was 37 meters. Under keystone, it rose with some 30 meters in height. These dimensions make it comparable with the Notre-Dame cathedral of Paris.
It was destroyed about 1794 in the tread of the revolution.
