TOUR VAUBAN, KAMELED, BRO GERNE

THE GOLDEN TOWER, CAMARET, BRITTANY

This tower have been built from 1689 and 1694 by Vauban, and belong to a system of fortifications around the French coast. Crozon peninsula, who protected Brest harbour, offers a lot of these strong places. In 1694, the tower took a great role by preventing an attempt of landing by dutch and english troops. King Louis the fourteenth gave to Camaret the title of “guardian of the armorican coast”. The town became partly duty-free till the french revolution.
