Photographer’s Note
Photographing on the Left Bank - looking for street shots - I'd literally just turned away from photographing across the entrance to the Metro at this location when out of the blue this guy came zipping around the corner on the pavement at speed - a reaction shot - just enough time to get him in the frame and then he was gone! I almost couldn't believe it had happened! My focal length on the lens was 16mm and I have cropped it to frame a little but not so much.

Kev, the movement on this photo is fantastic! So is your model, his clothes and pose. It's a very good photo, especially if you read your note about the "reaction shot". Nice piece of work, regards Pawel

i knew it, i knew it! i knew that grazyna would like it... is so much french with such a strong doze of the "orientalism" and "difference" (because of the fance oldskul type of the bike, because of the oldskul clothes etc.) in it...
it's a delightful b&w photo...
best, j.

You're a master of street panning Kev! It's perfect! But apart from that I really like this photo. It looks a timeless classic. Maybe it's your b&w editing. or the way the lights falls from the side, I don't know... but it looks very Bressonesque to me. Those deep blacks are wonderful.

Hi Kev.
What a dynamic shot this is. The distortion, the blurring of the background - a slight pan, or just shallow DOF? I like the way the cyclist looks down on the viewer, and he appears to have a somewhat haughty expression on his face. Excellent work.
Regards,
Andrew

Such a dapper looking character Kev, on a very retro bicycle. You've done really well considering - and I love the effect of the 16mm.
Excellent - Roberto

Hello Kev. Action, dynamic, movement...... During the hasty running over the TE pages I see your beautiful photo. It pleases me very well. Really a good shot. With regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Kevin,
So you're back! Posting again...
Not an easy picture. The B&W conversion makes it timeless.
Best wishes

The motion of the bike, expression of the biker... A very live moment, very "real" moment photographed...
Even though it is a frozen moment, it is possible to watch the roundish move and convex of its route.
Just amazing!
Congrats,
Have a nice weekend,

These are the moments every photograph lives for. Out of the blue, the moment comes and dissapears in a flash. Most of us miss it, but you did not. A mix of luck and quickness.
cheers,

An eccentric gentleman, on an old bicycle, with a dynamo on the front wheel to boot! Cloth cap and cravat, notwithstanding!
What a gem. It took me a while to fall into this shot Kev, but when I did it was like gravity over came me! The magnificent motion, the uprightness, push-bell and trouser clips too, and all on a public pavement -- would you Adam and Eve it?
In the UK you would be given a fixed penalty fine for such a wonderful act.. as I am sure you know.
Long live pedal power! Most enjoyable Kev!

hello Kevin,
this has put a smile on my face.Do you think this guy might be related to Chris Eubanks? Congratulations on your quick reaction. The framing is just right.

What a fantastic shot. Sometimes those quick reaction shots are the best you can make and they give you a much better feel of an urban environment than neatly composed pictures. The b/w adds to the atmosphere and really makes this a great Parisian picture. Thanks to the DOF the bike rider stands out against the background as well.

Kev
Très bon instantané avec un POV original. Le choix judicieux du noir et blanc crée une atmosphère particulière donnant un aspect photo ancienne à l'image.

Excellent Decisive moment, Kev! Great reflex and with a good shutter speed you managed to capture the essence of the movement leaving the guy sharp and the rest blurry - well done!
A fav!
TFS!
