Photographer's Note

Entering Minden by train during a slight downpour in late December, with backpack in tow, I was again reminded of the beauty of travel in Europe. My wife and I were excited to meander through the labyrinth of cobblestone streets, statues and beautiful architecture as we made our way to the Hotel Minden. To our surprise, we discovered a courtyard of festivities amongst the buildings, including animal rides, Gluehwein huts, bratwurst stands, ornamated trees, woodwork and of course this beautiful carousal.

With around 86.000 residents, Minden is a cultural focus and also a Center of administration and business. Surrounded by the Wiehen- and Wesermountains, forrests, meadows and moors, the more than 1.200 year old Minden, lies by the watercrossing of the river Weser and the Midland-Canal, in the East-Westfalian Region.
