Stairway to Heaven Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is an entrance to Chrisoskalitisas (sorry if I mis-spelled the name, but Greek names usually have many LAtin spellings :)) Monastery on Western Crete. There is a legend that one of these steps is made of pure gold (monastery name translates as Golden Steps), but only the righteous person can see it. Well... hm... I'll be honest: I've seen no gold at all. Big deal!

It seemed that every tourist was checking his (her) righteousness on those steps, so I had to wait for a long time to capture this beautiful stairway as it was - no gold, but no tourists :).

Tech note:
Autocontrast, cropping, noise reduction on skies
(Neat Image plug-in), framing, resizing and selective sharpening were done in Photoshop.

I like it a lot, so as the note about it. Well, I can see no gold indeed, but I certainly see Greece here, with the white stones, blue painting and SO blue sky! Good shot.

I reallylike your view point in this photo. Th eopen door leeds the eye in to the pic and you wonders whats up there. Colours are nice. Blue and white always look well toghter. For me these colours represent Greece so well.

Creative fine setting Dmitry. The blue door opening for the blue sky, with the stairs inviting us in. Very well done.

Exellent combination of blue and white colours. The intrechange of this colours on the uper half of the pic its just perfect. The steps helps to balanced the composition.

A lovely, classic shot! You follow the "rules" here Dmitry, and they serve you well. The blue of the door is so nice with all of those harsh whites, and the stairway makes a marvelous leading line up to the door. Bravo!

it is a nice composition with beautiful colors, I wish there was someone walking on thos stairs! sometimes seeing such a nice scene it is a good idea to wait for some action, for someone to appear in the picture... anyway, it is a nice photo

on dirait une porte ouverte tout droit pour le paradi bleu comme le ciel...très bien vu comme scene...les couleurs sont très jolies et le cadrage est bien reussi...amicalement BI

Your images are excellent, I think the most of them are very very good, and this one has great colors and lightness.
