Photographer's Note

Lake Aklais (The Blind Lake) is like frying pan - 1 km in circumference and only 0,4 m deep. The bottom is mostly limestone. In summer the water there could get up to 40 C degrees hot.
In some places there come out sulphuric springs through the limestone. Around these springs are feeding numerous microorganisms.
Here you see one such spring some 10 cm below the lake level. The force of spring water has washed away the sediments of dead microorganisms and some microorganisms have also coloured the limestone. Unusual place!
