Farewell Valletta, mystery street ...
Typical street in Velletta.
Valletta, Maltese pronunciation: is the capital city of Malta, colloquially known as Il-Belt in Maltese. Geographically, it is located in the South Eastern Region, in the central-eastern portion of the main island of Malta having its western coast with access to the Marsamxett Harbour and its eastern coast in the Grand Harbour. The historical city has a population of 6,444 as of March 2014, while the metropolitan area around it has a population of 393,938. Valletta is the southernmost capital of Europe and the second southernmost capital of the European Union after Nicosia.
Valletta contains buildings from the 16th century onwards, built during the rule of the Order of St. John also known as Knights Hospitaller. The city is essentially Baroque in character, with elements of Mannerist, Neo-Classical and Modern architecture in selected areas, though the Second World War left major scars on the city, particularly the destruction of the Royal Opera House. The City of Valletta was officially recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.
The official name given by the Order of Saint John was Humilissima Civitas Valletta—The Most Humble City of Valletta, or Città Umilissima in Italian. The city's fortifications, consisting of bastions, curtains and cavaliers, along with the beauty of its Baroque palaces, gardens and churches, led the ruling houses of Europe to give the city its nickname Superbissima—Most Proud.

Witaj Krzysztof,
So, now we bid a fond farewell to Valletta. Maybe we will now see other parts of the island? Anyway, a delightful and evocative image to end our visit to the capital of Malta. Excellent management of the light and shadow contrasts; the sunlit façade at the end of this narrow little street makes a beautiful focal point.

Bonjour, cher Christophe,
Bravo pour avoir su mettre en valeur cette venelle. Le soleil ne doit pas éclairer certains logements.
Très bonne prise de vue, difficile à réaliser.
Amitiés.

Hello Krzysztof,
That's a challanging photojob to do, and yopu well managed the shaded parts of the narrow alley with a small "path" of sunshine above, and lit "end of the tunnel" on far side.
Bravo,
Ike

Hello Krzysztof,
The dark narrow street with the high buildings cares for depth and perspective.
Also you play excellent with light and shadows.
But you did very well.
An excellent composition, nice presentation too.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John

Widziałeś głównie zakratowane okna i balkony?

Hello Krzysztof,
Goodbye to Valetta but what a fine shot with which to bid farewell!
You have composed the scene extremely well, taking great advantage from the converging lines of the walls, to create a mood of mystery. We are propelled through the narrow opening to the light and building, at the end and are thankfully relieved!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Krzysztof
Fascinating scene of this narrow alley in Valletta.
I like your composition with the street in the middle and the dark facades on both sides.
The picture opens in the sunlight at the end of the street and the blue sky.
Excellent presentation

Hi Krzysztof,
The length of the narrow street is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the walls. The low light does not hurt the output of the colours. Have a nice day.

Hi Krzysztof
now this is exactly how i remember Valletta.
these alley ways have a spooky feel to them, yet they're really not spooky at all.
the lighting at the end of the 'tunnel' works out perfectly.
cool combination of light/shadow
cheers

Hello Krzysztof,
This is a nice with which photo to say farewell to Valletta. It's a narrow alley that has been closed off to even the smallest cars, nice typical scene.
Regards,
MT
