Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

Despite the rain, we were eager to see the East Gate, and though there were no other tourists to animate the scene, we were not disappointed.

The eastern gate in Delft, Netherlands, is an example of Brick Gothic northern European architecture that was built around 1400. Around 1510, the towers were enhanced with an additional octagonal floor and high spires. This is the only city gate remaining in Delft; the others were demolished in the 19th century. It currently serves as an art gallery and private residence. - Wikipedia

The East Gate has attracted the attention of many Dutch painters. Some of the seventeenth-century painters that portrayed its charm include Jan van der Velde the Younger , Jan van Goyen, Gerbrand van der Eeckhout and Jan de Bisschop.

I will add a couple of further pictures as workshops and I hope you may be able to solve a puzzle for me.

Have a lovely Sunday, Bev :-)
