Photographer's Note

The Magere Brug is one of the few surviving wooden Dutch bridges. It was built over the river Amstel in the center of Amsterdam.
The central section of the Magere Brug is a bascule bridge made of white-painted wood. The bridge was built in 1691 and renewed in 1871 because it was too narrow. Currently only cyclists and pedestrians can pass the bridge, the traffic of cars is not allowed.
A legend says that a kiss between lovers while on this bridge ensures the love forever.
