Photographer's Note

I have no idea what the elderly man was saying to the woman and her children. I just use my imagination. Maybe they were father, daughter and grandchildren and he was saying "See you next week". It doesn't matter. I saw them talking in front of this graffiti and when they parted ways I liked how the two arms were stretched out towards each other.

This is a heavily cropped photo. There was a lot of stained, grey plaster above them and the entrance of a money changer's office to the right. To the left another man was standing in the shade with his back towards me. I decided all of that was uninteresting

This is from the city of Katowice in southern Poland, where I spent the last day of my journey through four countries of central Europe at the beginning of summer this year. The next day I went to Kraków to catch a flight back home. There are many beautiful cities in Poland but I can't honestly say that Katowice is one of them. There are some nice parts but mainly it's a rather drab industrial city with a lot of large buildings from Communist days dominating the central areas.

Since it is very unlikely that I will use any other photo from Katowice as a main upload I enclose two of the few I took as workshops. One shows a few persons smoking cigarettes, the other a balancing act.

Here is a larger version of the main photo.
