Curtyard of the Castle of Silesian Piast Dynasty, Brzeg.
The Museum of Silesian Piast Dynasty in Brzeg is a Renaissance historical residence in Poland, now the museum of the Silesian Piast Dynasty. It is located in the southwestern part of Poland in Brzeg, about 50km from Wroclaw.
The history of the monument dates back to the 1st half of the 13th century.
It was originally a Gothic castle. From 1311 to 1675 it was the residence of the Piast dynasty ruling the Duchy of Brzeg. The appearance of the castle changed five times during the Middle Ages. The residence was then completely rebuilt and became one of the the most beautiful Renaissance palaces in Europe.
After the Second World War it was changed to the museum. In the rooms you can see a collection of Silesian art from the period 15th to 18th century. There are sculptures, old coins, several altars, ceremonial clothing and armour, and also tombs of the rulers.
