Photographer's Note

Once an important place where gathered the intellectual elite of the country, this former monastery obtained the status of National Pantheon in 2003 and houses the tombs of early kings of Portugal.
The city of Coimbra extends along the river Mondego, the highest point of the city, is located the prestigious University of Coimbra and its majestic library of the eighteenth century, and the charming Botanical Garden. This prime location also situated up the New Cathedral, the sixteenth century.
In the Lower City is the historical center, to unite these two areas is a street that has become a tourist attraction, the Quebra Costas Street (Break Back Street) a steep staircase and typical street full of bars and various shops.
