Photographer's Note

This is a panoramic of the Castle of Arraiolos, also known as Paço dos Alcaides. It has been built in the 13th century, in a place occupied since pre-history.
It's on the top of the hill, near the town and it can be seen from a long distance when coming through the national road.
What we see in this photo is the Gate of Santarém. On the opposite side, facing the town, there's another one.
The wall is well preserved and inside our attention goes to a Church - Igreja do Salvador, painted in blue and white colours. The space is simple but really beautiful. Besides, the view over the town of Arraiolos, so famous for its carpets, and the plains around is fantastic.
