Photographer's Note

Continuing my series on the many and little known churches of Bucharest.

This is one of Bucharest most well known churches and also one of the most unique. For me, this church brings out a thirst for orange juice :) As many others, it is, as well, hidden behind a belt of appartment buildings, on the banks of the Dambovitza canal.

The "Domnitza Balasa" church (Lady Balasa) is located in the center of Bucharest, next to the imposing Palace of Justice (Palatul Justitziei). The church was built by princess Balasa Brancovan in 1736. The church was rebuilt in 1881 by architects Alexander Orascu and Carel Benes and renovated in 1895. Its unique and ornate architecture is a mix neoclassical and romantic styles. The interior is impressive as well.

**Update: the church from a different angle as a workshop here.
