Photographer's Note

Callela is a small fishing village 80 km south of France
on the Costa Brava. There are five "mini" beaches, this is one of them (Port Bo) where sunbathers share the sand with fishing boats. There wasn't any sun the day I snapped this, which left the beach entirely to the boats.
There are more than a dozen other well known fishing/resort villages on the Costa Brava such as Cadaques, Escala, Palamos, S. Agaro, Tossa de Mar, Tamariu, Llafranc, etc. Each has its own charm, but basically each is a variation on the same theme.
Be prepared to hear more English, German, Dutch, and
French than Spanish in the high season. Not surprising... the Costa Brava was the destination of a handful of English tourists back in the 50s which started the whole northern European "estival migration"
