Photographer's Note
Inside of the dome of the Church of San Manuel and San Benito. Madrid.
The Church of San Manuel and San Benito is a neo-Byzantine style temple and is located in Alcalá Street, corner of Calle Lagasca. What is striking is its immense copper dome and its Italian-style campanile.
It was the Catalan businessman Mauricio Caviggioli and his wife Benita Maurici Gauran, who donated the grounds to build the mortuary building. In 1902, now deceased husband, Ms. Benita was committed to the Augustinian Fathers to build a church to serve as a mausoleum for her late husband and herself.
The project was designed by architect Fernando Arbós y Tremanti.
It became a parish in 1965 and was restored in 1975 by the architect José Antonio Arenillas.

The deep and bright colours are exceptionally well photographed. The painted figures and designs have a soft glaze to it. The tone of the dark outer circle is not harsh, and goes well with the general softness of the outer ring.
The bright golden starnds and the saffron circle in the centre has clarity and though there is a slight burn due to the light, it does'nt hinder the beauty of the photograph.
very well taken - to have positioned yourself exactly below the centre of the dome and to beat the light directly falling of the lens.
Thanks for sharing.
