A delightful shot of a charming old town square with magnificent white-washed buildings stealing the show which is wisely taken on a brill soft morning autumn light! You are right to include those figs where the eye is also drawn to, as well to keep the main interest more lively. The overall contrast of white, brown tone and blue sky is more than satisfactory.

Actually there's so much detail rendered to strengthen the whole capture. This is a well performed quality shot, very coool on the eye! and thks to the infor notes. Congrats

The wideness of the square is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings. The light is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello lars,

I remember this square well. We stopped here to have a leisurely drink before continuing our explorations!
You have shown its cobbled foreground well, suggesting its historical nature.
Those tall, small-windowed houses are so full of character. With the many windows in the roofs, they remind me of house in the Alsace region.
You had a lovely day for mid-October, bright but with a lowish sun for good shadows.

A fascinating and most informative note and a delightful photograph to accompany it!

The composition here is both perfect and also very pleasing and makes the most of the lighting and the actual direction of the light at this particular time of day. Your exposure is perfect, the colours true and the details and sharpness are exquisite. And, of course, the inclusion of quite a few other visitors animates the image as well as giving a fine sense of scale.
