Photographer's Note

Some fellow hikers we chanced upon at the top of Schynige Platte in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. They weren't posing for me!

There is some of the best hiking (as opposed to climbing) in Switzerland around Schynige Platte, not least the famous walk from Schynige Platte to First (about 15 km, but a lot of up and down!) And at each end there is transport to get you up from the valley floor: cable cars up to First from Grindelwald, and one of the best of Switzerland's famous narrow-gauge railways from Wilderswil up to Schynige Platte. Easy and fun. There's even a beautiful Alpine Garden by the top station at Schynige Platte. These girls were on the edge at a summit variously called Daube or Tuba, looking down into the cloud-filled valley of Lauterbrunnen. To the left there are stunning views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, and to the right you feel you could almost jump into the Brienzersee. Take a look here! An amazing place...
