Photographer's Note

Sculptural composition in the form of a flat boat, which depicts the figure of Kiev founders - brothers Kyi, Schek and Horeb, and their sister Lybed established in 1982 in preparation for the celebration of 1500 anniversary of Kiev.
Nestor the Chronicler in his "Tale of Bygone Years" mentions the legend of the founding of Kiev, on which Kiev was founded by Prince Polyansky Kiem. For a long time, the Chronicle story, the attitude which was often skeptical, was the sole source of the issue of time of origin of Kiev. While it is still just not lined with who and when founded Kiev. According to the archaeological site (found a lot of archaeological material in the old town, dating back to V and VI centuries) in 1982 decided to arbitrarily "assign" Kiev 1500-year-old age.
In the background is monument perches on a tall, white column in Kiev's Independence Square. It represents Berehynia a Slavic goddess of protection.
