Photographer's Note

The harbour at Holy Island is home to many small vessels.

Most of them are active, seagoing craft ranging from fishing vessels to pleasure boats. On any day you will see a variety of vessels using the harbour.

It is also home to other craft which have had a life at sea but will never again leave the shore. Some have been turned over and converted into huts. Others, sadly, are left on land to decay.

The boat in this shot will never again go to sea. Its rudder is missing, its paintwork is faded, its timber is rotting and its propeller is rusted.

Even though it will never again put to sea this boat tells something of the seagoing tradition of Holy Island.
