Photographer's Note

Not a scene from "The Borrowers" just a long lens shot of the London Eye and the magnificent Coade Stone Lion that graces the southern end of Westminster Bridge in London, England. "The South Bank Lion" as it is known, once stood over the entrance to the Lion Brewery on the south bank of the Thames. The brewery closed in 1924 and lay derelict until 1949 to make way for the construction of the Royal Festival Hall. The Lion was saved, painted red and mounted outside the Waterloo Station gate to the Festival of Britain site. In 1966 the station was enlarged and the lion moved again to its present location and stripped back to the original coade stone.
