Photographer's Note

Getting closer to the water in the Hula Reservoir, one hears all sorts of tail striking, gulping and swallowing sounds… Looking a little closer, these creatures appear. I know very little about catfish (well, other than they go well with tartar sauce… ;)), and my websearch didn’t yield anything I could insert into this comment. So – all I have to present here is the photo…
I actually took many photos of the catfish that day – whenever I threw something into the water (leaves, small branches and similar) they just huddled there, as if in a food frenzy… To me it looked like they were being playful, but it’s probably just my vivid imagination.
Highly inspired by the book “The Da Vinci Code” I chose the one with the albino catfish in the frame… The presence of this fish and the fact that it managed to live to be an adult despite its most conspicuous appearance also indicates that those fish have very few predators there.

Sharpened and enhanced contrast (+7). While I realize the photo is not of the best quality, this is the strongest memory I have from the day, and I wanted to share it with you.
