Photographer's Note

This cable car is one of the main attractions of Manara Cliff. With a trek of almost 2 KMs (1940 meters), this is the longest cable car trek in Israel, overlooking the magnificent views of the Upper Galilee.
“Manara” is the name of the neighboring Kibbutz (A collective farm or settlement owned by its members – a form of settlement unique to Israel). Located on top of Naftali Mountains, at 880 meters above sea level, Manara borders with the Hula Valley to the east and the border between Israel and Lebanon to the west.
The border, which is called “the good fence” for the friendly atmosphere that characterized it for many years, has known some violent incidents lately. I thought the cable car, which appears to be going so smoothly, yet evidently is running on a very thin line, represents the entire area – all looks and can be very beautiful, peaceful and quiet, but there’s a thin line between the ideal appearance and a completely different reality.
