Photographer's Note

Bazı arkadaşlarımızın bu şelalenin resimlerini yükleyeceğine dair ciddi duyumlar aldım. :)
Onlar upload etmeden bende biraz bilgi vermek iyi olur diye düşündüm.
Güzeldere Şelalesinin yanındaki küçük bir tesis bulunuyor. Kafa dinlemek isteyenler. Uygun bir ücret karşılığında resimde görülen (sarı-kırmızı-mavi renkli)ağaç kulubelerde kalabilirsiniz.

The Waterfall of Güzeldere and the Recreational Area

The Güzeldere Waterfall.

The waterfall and the recreational area are 18 kilometers from Düzce and 11 kilometers from Gölyaka. You can come to the camping and picnic area by car. During the weekends the place is usually crowded. But it is worth coming.
Güzeldere waterfall is an amazing spectacle. A river pours over 120-meter high rocks. Just imagine a football field and tilt it towards the sky and add 10 meters more on it. The water falls from one goal to the other. You can walk down the wooden steps following the water crashing down. The sound and the scenery are very exciting. You feel the ground is shaking beneath your feet and you are awe-struck with such an irrestrainable force of nature.

In the vicinity, one other natural attraction to be seen is the Karagöl. This is a lake surrounded with beech and hornbeam trees and wild mountain roses. It is like a gem hidden in nature. The surface of the lake is covered with leaves. There are reeds and wild roses on its shores. You end your tour here listening to the chorus of frogs, the inhabitants of the lake.

Little further up there is the Pürenli and Hira plateaus. The guesthouse of the Forestry Department here also serves the visitors.

The waterfall produces such a noise that makes you unable to think anything else. This is a marvel of nature that captivates you. It is probably the most impressive of all the waterfalls in Turkey.

As the waters fall from every corner, you take out your camera to capture this amazing picture. Even a wide-angle lens fails to take in the entire scene. It is so vast and so boundless. After a while you start feeling dizzy watching at the water coming down with a crashing sound. The only thing to wake you up is to eat. Outside the entrance there is a quite wide area covered with grass, picnic tables under the trees, a canteen serving snacks and a garden restaurant which attests by its looks that it is run by professionals who know about tourism.
