Photographer's Note

The Blue Mosque was built in the early 17th century under sultan Ahmet I. It is the only mosque in Istanbul that has six minarets. In fact, upon completion of the mosque, Ahmet had to donate a minaret to the mosque in Mekka, since that one had only six minarets at that time. The name "Blue Mosque" comes from the tilings inside the mosque, which are dominated by the color blue in all its nuances.
