Photographer's Note

As I've allready mentioned in previous photos, Mexico is the country for deserts and giant cactuses.

The desert here is just beautifull. Besides the incredible vegetation the most striking thing here is the profound and utter silence.

Although the environment is extremely harsh here, and you wonder how anything can grow and thrive in those conditions, the desert is teeming with life.
As far as animals go, vultures are the ones that you see most often. In fact, they are everywhere, at times in huge numbers. They seem to enjoy tall cactuses as resting (and probably lookout) points. Whenever the sun strikes they all open their wings, as if they want to warm (or maybe tan!) their bellies.

I walked for a few hours in this place, a plateau close to the oasis town of San Ignacio, and although I had a few surrounding hills as reference points it is very, very easy to get lost here! Which I did...
