Photographer's Note

that is... "Fake Sausages"

It was Christmas Day, or the way we call it back home "the first day of Christmas" of the three days the Christmas feast lasts, and I found myself having nothing prepared for the Christmas feast. I was quite busy at work and had no time to cook anything.

So, the best I could do for lunch on Christmas Day was to grab a couple of hot dogs from the freezer and pretend they were sausages. I roasted them nicely and threw them on top of a plate of some vegetable stew I had cooked over the weekend. It was actually one of my best Christmas meals over the past ten years or so. Beside that, I'm sure many other people had a lot less on their table that day and I am grateful I had that much.
Once I finished my lunch I started preparing some real Christmas food. Tomorrow I will come back to show you what I cooked.

Sausages (most often made with pork from the pig traditionally slaughtered for Christmas) are one of the most common foods Romanians enjoy while celebrating the Christmas feast. Here you can find one of my previous posts showing the grilling of an actual sausage on the third day of Christmas a couple of years ago.
