Photographer's Note

...of being a child or loving your mom.

Again, down on Solomons Island I was after people. What better people than kids. They don't come with preconceived notions of right or wrong, who is good or bad. They just enjoy. We should spend more time learning from them. Put any kids from any country of any language or nationality in a room, and they will play. The adults teach them to dislike, to look askew. We should be more vigilant. War would be gone in a generation if we just learned from kids. When you look at the person next to you, remember they are some mothers child.

The purpose of this photo came about through some serious thinking. What am I catching with the camera, is it life or an ideal that I wish was life? Are my photos candid? Are they conveying a message that warrants documentation, or are they just pretty...if that?
If you have read my notes before, you know that I have issues with taking pictures of people (shaking)'re always moving (%$#@). I used to think this was a problem, until I concentrated on what I thought was a great photo. Some have blurs, some are overexposed, some don't adhere to the rule of thirds...they just document a moment that means someone. I wish to be able to catch a meaningful moment.
I'm sure that I will take pictures because they are pretty, because that's life as well. But...I wish to strain myself and try to make the pictures say something more. This is the test for all people who find themselves really liking photography I'm sure. You all just happen to be able to watch the discovery with me.
She had a twin that was very calm. This young girl, on the other hand, was racing about the place like a madwoman. She was very happy that she was with her parents and grandparents spending a beautiful day out by the water. You can tell she was happy, because kids show off just a little when people they love are around.

Crop and sharpen, that's it.
