Photographer's Note

Our disastrous fire season here in California, was set off by a lack of water (it hasn’t rained since February) than a series of dry lightening storms set off hundreds of fires, the skies are filed with smoke… as I was driving back home from a family reunion in the far north of the state, I crossed Shasta Lake, and there was this enormous seaplane, used to gather water from the lake. It looks like the plane took all the water, but alas, it is our drought that is leaving the ugly bathtub look to things. Visualize an early start to the Fall rains… our forests are dying.
