Photographer's Note

Today Julie and I hiked for 7 1/2 hours with this view, up the Soda Peaks Lake Trail. It is a VERY STEEP trail through a forest of very tall trees, some so big it was amazing. We didn't make it to the Lake today, 15+ years ago we did and had forgotten how TOUGH this trail was. All in all it was still a lovely day, although I'm pretty sore already, tomorrow morning I'll be VERY sore I think.

Soda Peaks Lake Trail:

Level: Most Difficult
Amount of Use: Moderate (we only saw 3 people all day!)
This windy steep trail ascends 2,200 feet through a dense conifer forest for four miles to Soda Peaks Lake and circles up the ridge. The bowl-shaped Soda Peaks Lake is surrounded by conifers in a mountainous setting. Elevation: Trail head 1,400 feet, trail end is 4,200 feet.
