The Greening of the Chicago River in celebration of St. Patrick's Day

Last week-end I posted the dumping of green dye on the Chicago River to commemmorate St. Patrick's Day. This one was taken about an hour after the initial dumping.

Chicago is a big Irish town and the greening of the river that runs through downtown has been a tradition - for 50 years now.

This year's greening was auctioned off in eBay, to raise funds for various cultural activities of the city. A local bank won the honors.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
