Photographer's Note

I'm reposting this one with some improvements, i.e. wider view and a green photo filter. This mill is very Vermont of the early 19th century. Other dated industries of the era are iron foundry settlements among the hardwood forest which was dated by the oxygen steel furnace. Prior to big steel companies was the technology of smelting iron ore with hot fires of hardwood charcoal. Many cellar holes and old stone fondations can be found east of the Hudson River. Troy, NY processed the iron into stoves, fram plows etc.
