Photographer's Note

Now ... away from the fires and a series from one of my favourite NSW outback places - Mungo National Park. Mungo is in an arid area and was used for sheep grazing but that is all gone. As well as its great landscapes the area is famous world wide for Mungo Man and Mungo Woman buried close together 42,000 years ago with the world's oldest burial rituals. She was cremated and he was adorned with ochre. This location is very important in Australia's history.

Oh, and yes the photo: this is of a sand ridge line at a spot called Red Top. The reason for the name is obvious. It was taken with a wide angle lens near dusk looking east but with the sun behind light clouds.

Best in the large view.
