Photographer's Note

An old snow gum near Falls Creek in the highlands of northeast Victoria. The day was quite misty, which produced interesting effects.

Snow gums often have multiple trunks with twisting patterns of coloured bark. Moisture from rain or mist enhances the colours and patterns on the trunk. The little cream-coloured flowers in the foreground are called candlestick heath, if I'm not mistaken.

Scanned from a slide.
