Photographer's Note

My first day in Quito became a blessing with a hike to Cumbre Rucu Pichincha at 4700 masl. The mountain is among the most accessible mountains of this height in the world as the hike starts from the top of the world's second most elevated cable car terminus at 3,945 masl. Pichincha is a volcano and gives its name to the region in which Quito is a part of.

This photo was taken about 5 minutes north of the cable car station, on the path to Rucu Pichincha. You can see parts of the cable car to the right and central parts of Quito down in the valley. This city is the place to go if you want to visit equator and it's also the most elevated capital in the world, after La Paz in Bolivia.
