Photographer’s Note

Domenica 1 Febbraio a Forza d'Agrò, delizioso paesino arroccato a 400m sul livello del mare nelle vicinanze di Taormina. Io, Maurizio e Francesco siamo andati per trascorrere una piacevole giornata insieme, e magari scattare qualche foto da mostrarvi, ma ahimè anche stavolta il meteo ci ha voltato inesorabilmente le spalle. Fortunatamente anche stavolta l'uomo con l'ombrello ci è venuto in soccorso...
Dedico questa foto al carissimo amico Yagmur (ymrk), che con la sua splendida "Black umbrella, argent flagging" mi ha dato lo spunto e l'idea per realizzare questo scatto.

Sunday, February 1st, a Forza d'Agrò, a charming village perched 400m above sea level near Taormina. Me, Maurizio and Francesco went for a pleasant day together, and to take some photos to show you, but unfotunately even this time the weather has turned its back inexorably. Fortunately, even this time the man with the umbrella has helped us...
I dedicate this photo to dear friend Yagmur (ymrk), who with his magnificent "Black umbrella, argent flagging" has given me the inspiration and the idea for this shot.

- linee rette vs linee curve.

a volte basta un buon occhio ed un pizzico di fantasia per creare piacevoli composizioni

Spot on this compo! Love the diagonal lines of the crossing / footpath, together with the round lines of the umbrella. And on the other side the grey tones in the background with that off-center punch of colour. Very nice!!

Troppo facile dire che l'omprello non andava tagliato. Il gioco di liinee è gradevolissimo, armonioso e ben ripreso. I colori poi rallegrano anche una giornata uggiosa. Come quella di oggi.

A prescindere dal fatto che sono in ritardo e mi sa che hanno gia` detto tutto gli altri, l'occhio del fotografo di razza si vede in queste occasioni. Per adoperare un unico aggettivo, anzi facciamo due : semplicemente geniale! Dall'angolo alle simmetrie, dal taglio al colore e al contrasto. Complimenti, di cuore! prima o poi doveva succedere, me lo stavo aspettando, avendo assistito alla tua metamorfosi fotografica. Una metamorfosi che riguarda, per altro, solo alcuni aspetti tecnici, in quanto quello che hai dentro lo avevi anche prima. Mi riferisco all'artista che c'è in te, dote che uno si porta dietro dalla nascita. Una foto così non è mai casuale, viene dall'anima. Ciao Giorgio, là è tante fotografie nella vostra galleria che voglio per lasciare le osservazioni sopra, io pensa che funzioni dagli "Smiley"! In questa foto I realmente come come l'ombrello colourful contrappone con la via quasi monocromatica. La vostra POV è eccellente e lo sharp di immagine così. I saw this image a couple days ago but didn't have time to write on it. And today while surfing on gallery I came across again and didn't want to miss it again.
Umbrellas are really photographic objects and you caught here probably the most attractive one. It is full in rainbow colors and has a different geometry with sharp slices.
Texture of ground acts quite well as a background for this colorful umbrella.
Excellent high POV with amazing graphism and colors.

i must admit i was totaly impressed by your photos postes in time of my absense. They are all marvelous!

Really you have a thing for umbrellas..there are few compositions now and this one a few months old..something that would get an acceptace at a salon maybe even win..the intention and exceution..the balance is just perfect..

A very graphical picture here with the color stripes of the umbrella in opposition to the ones of the pavement. Moreover, there is the opposition of colors providing an other step of interest when reading the photo.

Hi Giorgio,

A man could spend a lifetime, waiting for someone to pass by with such a terrific umbrella and never seeing it...

Not only did you catch this picture perfect umbrella within a perfect composition, but man, look at the rest of the set-up!!! Ideal combination of an outstanding point of view, graphic pavement and colourful element versus neutral background.

The diagonal framing is like the delicious frothy mousse on the best capuccino!... :-P)
