Photographer’s Note
Calle Marques de Larios, also known as Calle Larios is the most famous street in Málaga, dedicated in honor of Manuel Domingo Larios and Larios, II Marqués de Larios, who promoted the development of the textile industry in the city during the nineteenth century.
The first project for the opening of Calle Larios was done by engineer Jose Maria Sancha, but was later amended. That first draft was based street traced as far from the Plaza de la Constitution, but ran through the streets Toril, Salinas, Dodsworth (now Strachan), Plaza del Obispo, Sancha de Lara and San Juan de Dios.
The new road would be opened Souvirón then Mayor Sebastian Torres, 27 August 1891. The blessing was given by the bishop of the diocese Marcelo Spinola y Maestre, later named Archbishop of Seville.
On 1 May 1880, was the mayor of Malaga cartameño Alarcón Luján, the City Council made public the basis for a corporation to promote the construction of the Calle Larios in his honor. The capital of the same was set at one million pesetas, which were distributed in forty shares of 25,000 pesetas each, which were acquired by the Larios family mostly by making this charge of diposal. In Thanked the council erected a monument to the Marquis of Larios. With the proclamation of the Second Republic in 1931 was renamed the street Calle 14 April, the statue being torn down that paid homage by the crowd and thrown into the sea. Instead they placed the statue of the worker who until then was at the foot of the statue of the Marquis.
After the Civil War ended with the victory of Franco, he returned the original name to the street and a statue of the Marquis was recovered from the sea and replaced in its position, a situation that continues today, making it one of the images most typical and recognized the city of Malaga.
Calle Larios is the usual venue for public exhibitions. These stresses the exhibition of works by Manolo Valdés of Baltasar Lobo or Auguste Rodin (including The Thinker) and an exhibition about movie scripts on the occasion of the 12th edition of the film festival in the city.

Bonsoir Manuel,
La rue est très bien captée avec un bon POV, ce qui donne une perspective avec un point de fuite au bout de la rue.
Très bel effet des lumières sur l'architecture.
Bonne soirée

hola Manuel =)
I was in Malaga last year, in September, and my hotel was very close to this street... I liked the spaciousness of the street and the well-maintained buildings.
and the canvas sheets protecting from the sun... like those in Sevilla, they're absolutely Andalusian...
thanks for bringing back good memories =)

Hola Manuel,
I remember this street in Malaga but I was there in April and then they didn't have these canvas sheets.
This is a very beautiful presentation of Larios street and the buildings with a nice atmosphere and it's wonderful how the lights are reflected in that unbelievable shining pavement.
Best regards, Paul

Superb shot, Manuel. You've managed the light so perfectly that, even in subdued light, every sector of the image is in focus. The shining pavement, the individuals strolling, the colors of the flowers — all attract the eye. Very good note as well.
Warm regards and have a good weekend,
Bulent

Bon dia Manuel,
Wow que buena la fotografía ! Esta no es 'imi calle Larios'' o ha cambiado, o la has cambiado tú componiendo una imagen 'casi' irreal ! He intentado encontrar algún 'pero ...', y no, no es posible. Muy buena. Me encanta.
Un abrazo,
Roser

Beau travail.
Bonne nuit.

A wonderful golden light for this very interesting and fine street of Malaga. There is great sense of depth and perspective and those cloths on top give a very appealing graphic effect. I like very much the colours and the very good composition.
Well done,
Donato
