Photographer's Note

Taken in Senaru village in north Lombok island which is well known for its traditional 'ikat' weaving cloth with silver thread and other special ornaments, produced on old looms by the women of the native Sassak people. This work of art is pass down from mother to daughter at the very young age - one of the tradition is, if the girl can do the weaving, so she can get married. The distinctive cloths interestingly, are now experiencing a resurgence of interest because of their natural look as more traditional plain chequered styles are being superseded by more gaudy creations.

She's in deep concentration lit by the natural outdoor warm light of the morning - the one valuable element that I really loved to register while I tried to stay true to what I saw.........
